Organisations are rarely short of good ideas. The real challenge lies in the implementation: coherence and consistency in what you say and do, getting and keeping people on board with you, developing trust in yourself and others. This is where I come in, questioning, challenging, sometimes provoking, always pushing you towards your own success…
Previous experience
Irish-born, Oxford-educated and adoptive French since 1974, John’s management career was mostly in the international industrial sector (energy, petrochemical, engineering & contracting). He had a pioneering role in developing implementing industrial technology transfer deals (CGE Group). He served in several functions including CEO and Executive Director for various international contracting companies, acquiring particular experience and expertise in the fields of risk and opportunity management, financial engineering and virtual teaming. He moved into coaching on his return to Paris in 1998, where after an initial period as Partner of a local coaching firm, he co-founded Change Partnership France, now Praesta France, in 2003. In addition, he has been Chairman of the Praesta International group since 2009
As a manager, his greatest challenge was to lead and get the best out of people through unfamiliarity and uncertainty. With the acceleration of change, what was once the exception has become the norm for most international business leaders. John took up coaching to help them meet this challenge. To help bring clarity of thought and action, to engage others both with and without recourse to line authority, to harness and further develop your potential.
His management career and his coaching experience have given him a specific
expertise in complex, multi-national and cross-border situations.
Coaching
John has been coaching business leaders and their teams since 1998. His work is very performance-focussed, and covers a wide variety of sectors (banking, service sector, industry…) A lifelong lover of rugby – and therefore of teamwork – he does a lot of work on effectiveness through inter-dependence within executive teams.
John was co-designer and member of the lecturing team for the first formal University Diploma in coaching in France (Paris University). He has lectured on international business and associated cultural issues at a variety of higher education institutions.
He coaches in French, English, Spanish and Dutch, and also works in German and Italian.
